Sip of Daniel Island to benefit Water Missions International 3/3

February 25th, 2010 Elliott No comments

With the tragic Haiti disaster on everyone’s minds, Daniel Island resident Angela Black Drake is hoping that people will come to the first Sip of Daniel Island to benefit Water Missions International (WMI), a Christian-based organization that provides clean drinking water to people in developing countries and disaster areas.

In conjunction with The Rotary Club of Daniel Island and the Charleston Rotary Lunch Club, nine Daniel Island restaurants will be providing drink and/or appetizer specials. A $20 ticket will entitle the ticket-holder to enjoy the specials in each restaurant from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 3.

The proceeds from the event will benefit two WMI projects: support for the Rotary Club’s clean water project in Iquitos, Peru and for disaster relief work in Haiti.

Participating Restaurants include: Laura Alberts Tasteful Options, Dragon Palace, Wasabi, Vespa, Two Rivers, et cetera, Daniel Island Grille, Brewer’s Bistro, & Queen Anne’s Revenge.

Growler Hour 2/17

February 16th, 2010 Elliott No comments

Tonight we will be tapping a keg of BOULDER 30th Anniversary Flashback!  This India Brown Ale – a new and growing style of the American Brown Ale style.  Here’s how the brewery describes this brew: “Citrusy with a prominent hop aroma, finishes clean, crisp and dry with dark roasted flavors from the biscuit and chocolate malts perfectly complementing the Cascades.” Also on tap we have FOOTHILLS Sexual Chocolate Imperial Stout  – This stellar brew is released each year around Valentines Day in Winston-Salem North Carolina.  It is one of the most sought after beers in the South-Atlantic Region.  The brewery describes this beer as “A cocoa infused Imperial Stout – Opaque black in color with a dark brown head. Big chocolate aroma with notes of espresso, blackstrap molasses, dark sweet toffee and dark fruit. Smooth dark chocolate backbone with complex notes of coffee, dark toffee and dark fruit.” We tapped it last week for Valentines Day and still have a little left to share with you!  Come check it out.
